Fall is just around the corner! The sounds of football games can be heard on TVs, the smells of pumpkin spice lattes fill every Starbucks, we abandon our tank tops and shorts for cozy sweaters and leggings and, of course, the beauty trends change. If you want to know about the tips and trends that’ll be hot this Fall, keep on reading!
Tip 1. Match your Foundation to your Face!
When Summer leaves, it tends to take the sunshine and your Summer tan with it. Unfortunately, that means that if your foundation matched your face during the Summer, it most likely won’t match your face as your tan fades. We’ve all been guilty of having that orange line where our jaw meets our neck because our foundation wasn’t the right color. Who could blame us? Foundation is expensive! Most people can’t buy new foundation every time their skin tone changes the slightest bit. Well, you’re in luck! Some absolutely genius, that was probably as broke as the rest of us, invented shade adjusting drops that you can add to your foundation to darken or lighten it! So keep the foundation you love, get some shade adjusting drops, and always have a perfect match for your skin!
Tip 2. Bring on the Warm Neutrals
The trends of Fall tend to mirror nature. The red, orange, yellow and brown leaves inspire color palettes of warm browns in our wardrobes and makeup. What are warm browns? They’re basically browns of any shade that have red undertones. You certainly don’t have to cut other colors out of your personal style, but warm brown eyeshadow and clothes will always be trendy for Fall! Below, you’ll fine some eyeshadow palettes perfect for creating festive Fall looks!
Tip 3. Crop that Top
Crop tops are very in right now. Now before my parents track me down and make me wear a parka, allow me to explain. A crop top doesn’t have to show any skin at all! Many cozy, warm clothes can be oversized and end up hiding your beautiful figure! Have a sweatshirt you absolutely love but feel boxy in? Throw on some high-waisted leggings and trim some of the length off the sweatshirt! Now you’ll have all the coziness, but people will still be able to see your hips and a portion of your waist that highlights your figure instead of hiding it! You can get a similar, and dressier, effect by tucking a shirt into high waisted pants or skirts or simply selecting shorter tops. Who doesn’t want to feel warm, comfy, modest and sexy all at once?!
Tip 4. Add a Little Sparkle
Just because the sun isn’t shining as bright anymore doesn’t mean you shouldn’t! Add some highlighter to your makeup routine to draw attention to your favorite features and make your face look bright and cheery! Love your cheekbones? Highlight them! Have a super cute nose? Put some highlighter on the tip! Do you have gorgeous eyes! Highlight those inner corners! Don’t let the cooler weather dull your sparkle!
Tip 5. Use Deep Reds
Remember those warm neutral eyeshadows? You know what would look amazing with those? Deep red lipsticks! I’m talking everything from cherry to burgundy. Maybe even some maroon if you’re feeling adventurous! There’s a reason red lipstick is a beauty trend that’s been around since the 1800s. It’s classic, elegant, beautiful, and it looks amazing on everyone. If you think you can’t pull off red lipstick, you probably just haven’t found the right red for you yet. I highly suggest taking a trip to Sephora and trying on every red you see until you find one you love!
Bonus tip: Applying some dark lipstick or mineral eyeshadow to the corners of your mouth and some shiny gloss to the center of your lips can create some beautiful detail and depth in your lipstick look! Just be sure to really blend it! For a visual example watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNG7a7lzZZ0 starting at the 11:30 mark.
Tip 6. Go for the Bronze!
If you’re anything like me, you like to add some shimmer to your eyeshadow look from time to time. When it comes to Fall, bronze is the perfect color for you! It fits in with the Fall color scheme perfectly, and it has a nice, warm glow. Bronze also looks great with pretty much all browns and reds, so it’s very easy to match to tons of makeup looks! I’ve had a bronze mineral eyeshadow that I’ve been obsessed with for YEARS! I get so many compliments on it every time that I wear it. Check it out below!
Tip 7. You’re Making Me Blush!
Blush is the perfect way to add some color to your face! It makes you look wide awake and cheery as could be! Plus, if Fall runway looks are any indication, noticeable blush is going to be very in style this season. Usually I only link products I’ve personally tried, but I’m going to make an exception here and link a product that I’m dying to try! Milk Makeup has a lip and cheek stick that gives a nice pink tint to your lips and your cheeks, and it’s supposed to be super hydrating! If my experience with their Hydrogrip Primer is any indication of their quality, then I’m sure I’ll love this Lip + Cheek Stick!
Tip 8. Don’t Limit Yourself
I’ve talked a lot about specific colors and trends in this post. What’s important to remember is that tips and trends aren’t rules that you must abide by to be stylish. As much as I love my warm neutrals, you’ll definitely still see me sporting some purple eyeshadow in the middle of Fall. You can absolutely tie more colors and styles into your look and make it 100% your own!
